How Much Does an Ncell Recharge Cost in Indian Rupees?

The Nepali rupee is pegged to the Indian rupee: 1 INR = 1.60 NPR, so 1 NPR = ₹0.625. That fixed rate is your benchmark. Divide the Ncell amount by 1.6 to get the fair INR price, then compare it with the “Total Payable INR” a website shows you.

What pushes the price up:

Important: mobile top-ups cannot be pulled back. Exikart’s own confirm screen warns that transactions are irreversible. One wrong digit sends the balance to a stranger – read the number aloud before you pay.

Method 2: Hamro Recharge (Hamro Patro)

Hamro Patro’s Hamro Recharge (hamropatro.com/recharge) sends top-ups to Ncell, NTC and Smart Cell numbers from anywhere. It works through international payment gateways, so the price depends on the gateway and card.

  • Your Indian card must have international transactions enabled (switch it on in your bank app first).
  • Hamro Recharge supports USD, JPY, AUD and EUR. From India you will normally be charged in US dollars, so expect your bank’s forex markup on top.
  • Best if you already use Hamro Patro or your family is abroad in several countries – one account for everyone.

Method 3: Ncell App or Ncell Website

Ncell’s official recharge page (ncell.com.np → Recharge) lets you enter any +977 Ncell number and an amount, and also has Scratch Card and Toll Free Recharge options. The Ncell app does the same and lets you recharge friends and family from your login.

The catch for people in India: payment runs through Nepali options – wallets, Nepali bank cards and mobile banking. Indian UPI is not one of them. If you still hold a Nepali bank account, eSewa or Khalti, this is the cheapest route because you pay face value.

Bonus data only in the Ncell app

Ncell gives extra data on online recharges made in the Ncell app: 200 MB (1 day) for Rs 100–199.99 and 500 MB (3 days) for Rs 200 and above. It also applies when you recharge family from your app login. Scratch-card and scan-to-recharge top-ups do not qualify, and because the offer covers payments made inside the Ncell App, recharges bought on third-party Indian sites are not part of it.

Method 4: Send Money by UPI to Nepal, Then Recharge Locally

Since June 2026, India’s UPI is linked with Nepal’s National Payments Interface (NPI). NPCI International and Nepal Clearing House launched this person-to-person remittance link so people can send money between the two countries in real time using a mobile number or UPI ID, starting with selected banks.

This is not a direct “recharge” button, but it is the smartest option if you support family regularly:

  1. Check whether your Indian bank app shows the Nepal / cross-border UPI option (availability depends on your bank).
  2. Send NPR to your family member’s Nepali bank account or wallet.
  3. They recharge their own Ncell number in the Ncell app, eSewa, Khalti or mobile banking – at face value, and with the Ncell app bonus data on Rs 100+.

One transfer can cover a month of recharges, data packs and other bills, so you avoid paying a recharge-site fee every time.

Recharging Your Own Ncell SIM While You Are in India

Many Nepalis keep their Ncell number active in India for bank OTPs, eSewa and family calls. Methods 1 and 5 work on your own number even while it roams – a recharge is credited to the account, not to a location.

  • Roaming must be on before you can receive OTP SMS in India. Turn it on from the Roaming tab in the Ncell app, or via the codes in the Ncell USSD list.
  • Normal balance is charged at roaming rates in India. If you use data or calls daily, buy an India roaming pack from the Ncell app instead of spending main balance.

The driving license trial in Nepal is no longer a one-mistake-and-you’re-out test. Since the Department of Transport Management (DoTM) brought in its point-based directive, every candidate starts with 100 marks, loses marks for small errors, and passes with 70 or more. But a short list of mistakes still ends the trial on the spot, and several popular guides get those rules wrong. Where the 70-Mark Trial Rules Come From

The marking system comes from DoTM’s Driving Licence Examination Operation Directive 2077 (सवारी चालक अनुमतिपत्र परीक्षा सञ्चालन कार्यविधि निर्देशिका २०७७). It was announced in Chaitra 2077 (April 2021). COVID closures delayed it, and the new marking took effect when tests resumed in September 2021. Before that, a single error of any size meant failure.

Transport offices now sit under the provincial governments, so the pace of roll-out and day-to-day practice (trial centres, booking, use of your own vehicle) can differ by province. The marks and fail conditions below are the directive’s national standard.

Bike trial details that people miss

  • A stall in the figure 8 is a fail on a bike, even though one stall at the bumps only costs 5 marks.
  • One stall on the ramp costs nothing. A second stall fails you.
  • The plank is all-or-nothing: it is the only bike station where a single foot-down ends the test.
  • Locking the helmet strap is worth 4 marks before you even start the engine.

The lesson: the cheapest marks to protect are the ones that need no skill. Do the mirror/tyre/brake check, lock the helmet or wear the seatbelt, use the indicator before the U-turn, and read the light. That’s 32 marks, more than your whole margin.

The 2077 directive lets a candidate who passed the written test take the trial on their own vehicle if it meets these standards. Whether your office or trial centre allows it in practice varies by province, so ask before trial day.

Watch for office closures. Trial centres do shut temporarily. In Bhadra 2083, for example, the Bharatpur transport office (Chitwan) suspended trials and re-trial applications for about six weeks. Check your office’s notice before you count on a date inside your 18-month window.

Before your retrial

  1. Name the station that failed you and practise only that element first.
  2. Rebuild the station with cones or bricks at home size and drill it in short daily sessions.
  3. Practise on the same type of vehicle you will test on, especially for the ramp and plank.
  4. Rehearse the “free” marks: pre-ride check, helmet/seatbelt, indicator, light.

After You Pass the Trial

  • Pay the licence revenue at your transport office. DoTM says revenue can be paid up to 18 months after passing; after that, the process starts again.
  • Licence within 24 hours: under a system DoTM started on 15 April 2026, data for everyone who paid revenue is sent to the printing centre the same evening and the card is printed overnight.

Could the Trial Rules Change Soon?

Possibly. A draft Vehicle and Transport Management Act prepared by the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport proposes a tougher trial, possibly including dirt and slippery road sections, and higher minimum ages. Read this before buying a long Super Value pack

  • The 200 GB quota resets every 30 days on the 90, 180 and 365-day packs. Unused data does not carry forward.
  • Per day, the longer packs are only slightly cheaper: about Rs 26.6 (30 days), Rs 25.5 (90), Rs 25 (180) and Rs 23.3 (365). You pay a lot upfront to save a little.

What this shows: the cheap short packs (Rs 50, 99, 200) are some of the best value per GB on Ncell, and the Rs 349 monthly pack is one of the worst. You can apply for an Ncell eSIM online without visiting an Ncell Centre. You fill in Ncell’s eSIM conversion form, Ncell calls you back to verify your KYC, and you scan a QR code to install the eSIM. It costs Rs 100, deducted from your SIM balance.

Many guides still say the upgrade is free by sending an SMS to 17125. That was the method when Ncell launched eSIM in November 2022. Ncell’s own eSIM page now lists the online form and the Rs 100 charge instead. This guide follows the current official process, checked on 8 October 2026.

Also make sure the name and document number you enter match your SIM registration exactly. Ncell has said that requests are rejected when the name in the form does not match its system.

How to Apply for Ncell eSIM Online (Step by Step)

This is the official online route for converting an existing Ncell physical SIM to an eSIM.

Step 1: Open the eSIM conversion form

Go to ncell.com.np > Latest Offers > Ncell eSIM. Under “How to get my physical SIM converted to eSIM via online process”, tap the Click here link. It opens a Microsoft Forms page. Open it from Ncell’s site rather than a link shared on social media, so you know the form is genuine.

Step 2: Fill in your details

The form asks for:

  • The Ncell mobile number you want to convert
  • Your document number (citizenship, passport or National ID, the same one used to register the SIM)
  • Your email address (use one you can open on another device)
  • An alternate contact number
  • Your consent to deduct Rs 100 from the SIM balance as the conversion fee

Step 3: Submit and wait for Ncell’s response

If any field is missing, the request is not processed. You get an SMS and must submit the form again. If the form is complete, Ncell moves it to the next step.

Step 4: Answer the KYC verification call

Ncell calls you back to verify your identity. Keep your ID document nearby. Answer calls on both your Ncell number and the alternate number you gave.

Step 5: Get the QR code and install the eSIM

Follow the agent’s instructions. You will get an eSIM QR code, normally to the email address you entered. Scan it on the phone where you want the number (steps below). Once the eSIM is active, your old physical SIM is deactivated.

Tip: Open the QR email on a laptop or another phone, then scan it with the phone you are converting. You cannot scan a QR code that is displayed on the same screen.

Is the “SMS to 17125” Method Still Valid?

When Ncell launched eSIM on 25 November 2022, users could request it by texting citizenship number,email to 17125, and the upgrade was free. Most top-ranking articles still describe this method.

Ncell’s current eSIM page no longer mentions 17125. It lists only the online form and the Ncell Centre, and states that the upgrade costs Rs 100. Ekantipur also reported the Rs 100 charge in March 2025. If you have seen a guide promising a free SMS upgrade, follow the official form instead.

How to Install the Ncell eSIM QR Code

Connect to Wi-Fi before scanning so the eSIM profile downloads without interruption. Menu names change a little between phone models and software versions.

  1. Open Settings > Mobile Service (or Cellular).
  2. Tap Add eSIM > Use QR Code.
  3. Scan the Ncell QR code and tap Continue.
  4. Label the line (for example, “Ncell”) and choose it for calls, SMS and mobile data.

  1. Open Settings > Connections > SIM manager.
  2. Tap Add eSIM > Scan QR code from service provider.
  3. Scan the code, confirm, and switch the new line on.

Google Pixel and other Android phones

The online form is only for converting an existing SIM. To buy a new Ncell eSIM number, go to an Ncell Centre with a valid ID and a photo. You can hold up to three Ncell eSIMs, the same limit as physical SIMs.

Corporate (company-owned) numbers

The yearly package comes with a free router for new connections. On a 100 Mbps plan, paying monthly costs Rs 2,301 more over 12 months before you even count the router.

NTC FTTH 2-year internet-only packages (cheapest per month)

If you don’t need a landline or TV, the multi-year internet-only plan is the lowest-cost way into NT Fiber. You pay once for 24 months, there is no installation charge, the router and the first 100 m of fiber are free, and NT lists a 2-year warranty. The tariff also mentions 3,000 NT-NT voice minutes a year, but you need a phone line to use them — a new telephone connection carries the Rs 665 ownership tax.

NTTV is Nepal Telecom’s IPTV service. “Basic” and “Premium” are channel bouquets; the premium bouquet adds more channels. On the yearly plan the price already includes the router (CPE) and one set-top box (STB).

Spot the odd one: the 150 Mbps premium renewal (Rs 15,999) is Rs 500 less than the new-connection price, not Rs 1,000 like the others. That is how NT’s own table lists it on 8 Oct 2026 — confirm at the counter before you renew.

Extra TVs: each additional NTTV connection needs its own set-top box (Rs 3,230) plus the standard bouquet rate. Existing landline-only customers can add just NTTV for Rs 498.60/month (Basic) or Rs 718.60/month (Premium); yearly is Rs 5,983.20 and Rs 7,303.20.

NTC Wi-Fi 6 packages

The Wi-Fi 6 plans give you NT’s Wi-Fi 6 router instead of the standard one — useful when many phones, TVs and laptops share the connection. All prices are yearly and include taxes.

Compared with the standard yearly 100 Mbps + phone plan (Rs 11,499), Wi-Fi 6 costs Rs 3,000 more. It mainly pays off in larger homes or when many devices are online at once. Wi-Fi 6 premium (no FUP) plans run Rs 35,199 to Rs 53,319 a year.

NTC FTTH premium packages (no FUP)

Premium plans have no fair-usage limit, so speed never throttles, and NT gives one public IP address on request. They cost roughly 3–4 times the regular plans. The router, any set-top box and the Rs 500 installation are extra.

Do most people need premium? No. The regular 100 Mbps plan allows 100 GB a day at full speed — about 3 TB a month. Only shared offices, heavy uploaders or anyone who needs a public IP for hosting should pay the premium.

Corporate XGPON packages: 500 Mbps to 2 Gbps

XGPON is NT’s faster fiber technology. These yearly plans are for organisations and corporate offices; NT says they are not available to service providers.

Add-ons: a 6,000-rupee router is not included on the internet-only XGPON plans. Bundles with one public IP, telephone and premium NTTV cost Rs 77,241 (500 Mbps) and Rs 1,07,241 (1 Gbps), router and STB included. Corporate TV for 4+ screens starts at Rs 3,000 a year per TV for the basic bouquet.

Our take: paying monthly only makes sense if you are renting short-term. Over a year, the monthly 100 Mbps plan costs about Rs 5,100 more than the yearly plan once you include the router.

NTC FTTH FUP: how much data before your speed drops

Regular NT Fiber plans are “unlimited” with a daily Fair Usage Policy. After you cross the daily volume, speed drops to the throttle speed until the day resets.

Correction: several popular sites still list the old FUP (25 GB/day for 50 Mbps up to 100 GB/day for 200 Mbps). NT’s current tariff doubles those limits: 50 GB/day on 50 Mbps and 200 GB/day on 200 Mbps. HD video uses roughly 3 GB an hour, so you would need about 16 hours of HD streaming in a day to hit even the 50 Mbps limit.

Yearly NT Fiber subscribers get free daily data on the NTC mobile number registered with the fiber. Half is usable any time and half is a night bonus (11 PM – 6 AM).

NTC FTTH vs private ISPs: is Nepal Telecom cheaper?

We compared the yearly 200 Mbps price for a new home customer. NT’s prices include tax; private ISPs usually quote prices before 13% VAT, so we added VAT to put them on the same footing. Figures are from our checks of each provider on 6–8 October 2026.

So NTC isn’t the cheapest at 200 Mbps, but it is competitive with WorldLink and Vianet and is the only one that throws in a landline and daily mobile data. Its biggest advantages are reach (NT Fiber is in all 77 districts, per NepaliTelecom) and price stability. After the recent Supreme Court ruling on the telecommunication service charge, reports suggest private ISP prices could rise further; NT had not announced FTTH price changes as of 8 October 2026.

NT Fiber is billed against your FTTH customer (landline) number, so keep it handy. You can renew:

  • In the Nepal Telecom app or NT’s online self-care, using your FTTH number
  • Through eSewa, Khalti or mobile banking under “Nepal Telecom → FTTH / Landline”
  • At any NT counter or authorised dealer
  • Renew before expiry: the triple-play renewal price (Rs 1,000 cheaper) applies to renewals, not new connections
