2. SSF: 31% of basic salary

What about BambooHR, Gusto, Zoho or Deel?

International HR tools work for records and leave, but their payroll engines are built for US, UK or Indian rules. They do not split SSF and PF, calculate Nepali TDS, generate IRD files or support the BS calendar. The big Teams change. Canva replaced flat Teams pricing with per-seat pricing, which raised bills sharply for many existing teams and drew wide criticism.

Pro around $15 a month or $120 a year. Teams sold at $10 per person a month with a three-seat minimum.

Pro at $18 a month. Teams was replaced for new customers by Canva Business at $25 per person a month, with no seat minimum. Price trackers recorded the yearly Pro price at $180 in September.

There is a second reason for the confusion: exchange rates. At Rs 135 per dollar, the old $119.99 price looks like Rs 16,200 a year. The real October 2026 figure is about Rs 21,923, or roughly 35% more. If you are budgeting for a client or a college club, use the current numbers.

Nepali shops advertise Canva Pro from a few hundred rupees a year, far below Canva’s own price. These are not all scams, but they are rarely a normal Canva Pro subscription. Why the gap is so big: a single Canva Business seat costs $250 a year, about Rs 38,000. Nobody can sell a genuine paid seat for Rs 379 and stay in business. Class A and B banks can issue an IT prepaid card of up to USD 3,000 a year to IT, communication and information-broadcasting businesses for buying software and online services.
That rises to USD 5,000 for businesses that earn foreign currency through exports.
Some reports say the general USD 500 ceiling for individual cards was relaxed, letting banks set their own limits. Most bank pages still show USD 500, so treat USD 500 as the working limit until your bank confirms otherwise.

Freelancers and service exporters can credit online foreign earnings directly to their card balance or bank account.
Their card spending limit is now earned foreign income plus USD 500, up to USD 10,000 a year (earlier write-ups quoted USD 5,000).

This is the part most guides skip. Getting the card is half the job; using it correctly is the other half.

Load slightly more than the price. Many merchants place a small authorization hold (often USD 1) to test the card, and some add tax at checkout. Keep a buffer of a few dollars.

The key point: the tax depends on how you pay, not who you are. There is no exemption for US citizens or green card holders, but there is a simple, fully legal way to avoid it.

The Real Cost of Gemini From Nepal

The dollar price is only the starting point. Three things decide what actually leaves your bank account.

1. Exchange rate and bank margin

Google charges your card in dollars, and your bank converts at its own selling rate, usually a little worse than NRB’s reference rate. The rupee also moves: NRB’s dollar rate was above Rs 155 in the second week of October and Rs 152.24 by the 19th. On Google AI Pro that is a difference of about Rs 60 a month for exactly the same plan.

2. 13% VAT on foreign digital services

Nepal applies 13% VAT to digital services that foreign companies sell to Nepali consumers. Whether it appears on your Google invoice depends on Google’s checkout for your account, so read the final total before you confirm. If it is added:

This is the deal almost no Nepali price page mentions. Google’s Nepal student page currently offers Google AI Plus free for one year to eligible university students aged 18 and over. That is worth about Rs 9,116 at today’s rate.

Notice the pattern: every reseller deal is far cheaper than paying Google, which is the opposite of ChatGPT, where most private reseller plans cost more than the official price. That’s a signal. Google doesn’t sell Pro for 18 months at Rs 599, so the access comes from somewhere else: a family slot, a promotional offer, or a bundle. These can work fine for months. They can also end early if Google, or the person who owns the family plan, removes you.

Before you pay a Gemini reseller, check these five things

Is it your own account? Only accept activation on your own Gmail. Never use a login the seller controls.
Is it a family invite? If so, the seller is the plan manager and can remove you. Your chats stay private, but your access does not stay guaranteed.
Is the term realistic? “Lifetime” and very long terms at tiny prices are the deals most likely to stop working.
Is there a refund policy if Pro disappears in month three?
Is it a real business? Prefer a registered company with an order system and a VAT bill over a WhatsApp-only seller.
