Google Ads Costs in Nepal (2026): Cost per Click, Monthly Budgets & Hidden Fees in NPR

By Wilson Shrestha, web developer & digital marketer in Kathmandu · Last updated: October 19, 2026 · Exchange rate used: about NPR 152 per USD (Nepal Rastra Bank, mid-October 2026)

Google Ads costs in Nepal 2026 guide showing cost per click, monthly budget and VAT in Nepali rupees

Ask five agencies in Kathmandu what Google Ads costs in Nepal and you will get five different numbers. That is because Google has no price list. You set your own budget, and you pay a price per click decided by a live auction every time someone searches.

Most guides stop at “CPC is cheap in Nepal.” This one goes further. You will see realistic click prices by industry, what a monthly budget actually buys, the 13% VAT many advertisers forget, how far a USD 500 dollar card really stretches, what agencies charge, and a simple formula to work out your own budget before you spend a rupee.

Quick answer: How much does Google Ads cost in Nepal?

  • Search ads: roughly NPR 10 to NPR 120 per click for most businesses, and NPR 80 to NPR 200 in competitive niches such as education consultancy, real estate and insurance.
  • Display ads: about NPR 2 to NPR 20 per click, but with much lower buying intent.
  • Smallest sensible test: NPR 500 per day (about NPR 15,000 a month).
  • Recommended minimum for Search: about NPR 30,000 a month to collect enough data to optimise.
  • Extra costs: 13% VAT unless you give Google your PAN for business use, bank exchange margins, and NPR 15,000 to NPR 60,000 a month if an agency manages it.
  • Google’s own fee: zero. There is no setup or account fee; you only pay for clicks or views.

How Google Ads Pricing Works (In Plain Words)

Google Ads is a pay-per-click auction. Every time someone in Nepal searches for something like “laptop price in Nepal,” Google runs a quick auction between every advertiser targeting that keyword. Your position and price depend on three things:

  • Your maximum bid: the most you are willing to pay for one click.
  • Quality Score: how relevant your ad and landing page are to the search. A better score lets you rank higher while paying less.
  • Competition: how many other businesses want the same keyword at the same moment.

You almost never pay your full bid. You pay just enough to beat the advertiser below you. That is why two shops bidding on the same keyword can pay very different prices.

Know this before you set a daily budget

Google may spend up to 2 times your daily budget on a busy day, but it will not charge more than about 30.4 times your daily budget in a month. So a NPR 1,000 daily budget can cost NPR 2,000 on one day, yet the month stays near NPR 30,400. Plan your dollar card balance with that in mind.

Average Cost per Click in Nepal by Industry (2026)

Google does not publish official click prices for Nepal. The ranges below combine what Nepali agencies and consultants published in 2025 and 2026. Treat them as planning ranges, then check your own keywords in Google Keyword Planner before you launch.

Typical cost-per-click range in Nepal (NPR)

Each bar shows the low-to-high range on a scale of NPR 0 to NPR 200.

Local services (restaurants, clinics, tutors, salons)NPR 5–25
Typical search keywords (most businesses)NPR 10–120
Travel, trekking & financeUpper end of NPR 10–120 and above
Education consultancy, real estate, insuranceNPR 80–200
Business typeTypical CPC (NPR)Approx. USDWhy
Restaurant, salon, clinic, tuition5–25$0.03–0.16Few advertisers, small local areas
Retail & e-commerce products10–60$0.07–0.39Broad terms like “mobile price in Nepal” get crowded
IT, software & web services20–100$0.13–0.66High customer value, many agencies bidding
Travel, trekking & hotels30–120+$0.20–0.80+Much higher when you target buyers abroad
Education consultancy & study abroad80–200$0.53–1.32One student is worth a lot, so bidding is fierce
Real estate, insurance & finance60–200$0.39–1.32Large deal sizes push bids up

Why Nepal is cheaper: WordStream’s country comparison, based on Google Keyword Planner estimates, put Nepal’s average CPC about 57% below the US average. The catch: if you target searchers in the USA, UK or Australia (common for trekking companies and IT exporters), you pay their local prices, not Nepal’s.

Google Ads Cost by Campaign Type

“Google Ads” is really several ad products. Each one is priced differently, and choosing the wrong one is the fastest way to burn money.

Campaign typeYou pay forTypical Nepal costBest for
SearchClicksNPR 10–120 per click (up to 200 in tough niches)Calls, enquiries, sales from people actively searching
DisplayClicks or 1,000 impressionsNPR 2–20 per clickAwareness and remarketing to past visitors
YouTube (Video)Views or 1,000 impressionsNo reliable public Nepal benchmark; test with NPR 3,000–5,000Brand awareness, product demos
Performance MaxMixed (Google decides)Blended; needs conversion tracking to work wellE-commerce with tracked sales
App campaignsInstalls or actionsAbout NPR 40–200 per installFintech, delivery and service apps

My advice for a first campaign: start with Search only. It is the easiest to measure and the people clicking already want what you sell. Add Display remarketing or YouTube only after Search is bringing enquiries at a cost you are happy with.

How Much Should You Budget per Month?

There is no minimum spend in Google Ads, but tiny budgets produce too few clicks to learn anything. Here is what each budget level realistically gets you on Search.

Test

NPR 15,000/mo

About $99. NPR 500 a day. Roughly 150 to 600 clicks at NPR 25–100. Enough for one tightly focused campaign with long-tail keywords.

Recommended start

NPR 30,000/mo

About $197. Roughly 300 to 1,200 clicks. Enough data to see which keywords bring enquiries and cut the rest.

Growth

NPR 50,000–1,00,000+

About $330 to $660+. Several campaigns, remarketing and A/B tests. Usually needs a business dollar card or agency billing.

1. 13% VAT on Google Ads in Nepal

Since November 1, 2023, Google charges 13% VAT on its digital services in Nepal, including ads. The exception: if you use Google services for business and give Google your Nepal PAN with a business-use declaration, VAT is not added. On NPR 30,000 of ad spend, that is NPR 3,900 a month you can avoid by filling in your tax details correctly.

What to do: add your PAN in the tax information section of your Google payments profile before you start spending, and keep your invoices for your accountant.

2. Exchange rate and card charges

Google bills Nepali accounts through an international card, and your bank converts rupees to dollars at its own selling rate, not the NRB middle rate. The selling rate was around NPR 152 per dollar in mid-October 2026. Banks also charge card issuance and loading fees. These differ by bank, so ask before you apply. One more tip: you choose your account currency when you create a Google Ads account, and it cannot be changed later, so pick carefully.

3. Management fees

Running ads yourself is free apart from your time. If you hire an agency, expect a separate monthly fee on top of ad spend (see the agency fees table below).

4. A landing page that converts

Sending paid clicks to a slow homepage or a Facebook page wastes money. A focused landing page with a clear form or call button usually does more for your cost per lead than any bid change. If you do not have one, see what a basic site costs in my website design cost in Nepal guide.

Example: Where NPR 53,900 a month actually goes

Ad spend NPR 30,000 + VAT NPR 3,900 (no PAN declared) + agency fee NPR 20,000

■ Ad spend 55.7%
■ VAT 7.2%
■ Management 37.1%

Only about 56% of the money reaches Google as clicks. Declaring your PAN and keeping ad spend at least equal to the management fee are the two easiest ways to fix that ratio.

How to Pay for Google Ads from Nepal

This is where most Nepali advertisers get stuck. A normal rupee debit card is not accepted for international payments, which is the same wall I hit when I first tried paying for ads (I wrote about it in my Facebook advertising in Nepal guide). Your options in 2026:

Payment routeAnnual limitIn rupees (approx.)Good for
Personal prepaid dollar cardUSD 500NPR 76,000 a yearSmall tests and freelancers
IT prepaid card (April 2026 NRB rule)USD 3,000NPR 4,56,000 a yearIT & broadcasting businesses (ask your bank if ads qualify)
IT exporters earning foreign currencyUp to USD 5,000NPR 7,60,000 a yearCompanies with export earnings
Local agency or resellerDepends on agencyPaid in NPRLarger budgets; check markup and who owns the account

The USD 500 reality check

A personal dollar card covers about NPR 76,000 a year, or roughly NPR 6,300 a month. At the recommended NPR 30,000 a month for Search, that card runs dry in about two and a half months. If you are serious about Google Ads, plan for a business card, the IT card or agency billing from day one.

The USD 500 cap is per person across all banks, so opening cards at three banks does not triple it. You will need an active account, PAN and updated KYC. My dollar card in Nepal guide compares banks and fees.

Official local route: in April 2024, Google appointed Mediam by Aleph as its official media sales representative in Nepal, giving local agencies and advertisers access to Search, YouTube and Display. If you plan to spend heavily, ask them or your agency about local invoicing before relying on personal cards. Limits change often, so confirm current figures with your bank or Nepal Rastra Bank before you plan a large budget.

Google Ads Budget Formula (With a Worked Example)

Stop guessing a number. Work backwards from the enquiries you want:

Step 1

Leads you want ÷ conversion rate = clicks needed

Step 2

Clicks needed × average CPC = ad spend

Step 3

Ad spend × 1.13 if VAT applies = Google bill

Step 4

Add about 25% for the first month of testing

Worked example: a Kathmandu IT training institute (illustrative)

  • Goal: 40 course enquiries a month
  • Landing page conversion rate: 5% → 40 ÷ 0.05 = 800 clicks
  • Average CPC: NPR 50 → 800 × 50 = NPR 40,000 ad spend
  • Cost per enquiry: 40,000 ÷ 40 = NPR 1,000
  • Without a PAN declaration: 40,000 × 1.13 = NPR 45,200
  • If one in five enquiries enrols, each new student costs about NPR 5,000 to NPR 5,650 in ads. Compare that with your profit per student, not with the click price.

The lever most people miss: raise that landing page conversion rate from 5% to 10% and you need only 400 clicks. The same 40 enquiries now cost NPR 20,000 instead of NPR 40,000, without touching your bids.

How Much Do Google Ads Agencies Charge in Nepal?

Management fees are always separate from your ad budget. Published Nepali pricing in 2026 falls into these ranges:

Who manages itTypical fee (NPR)Best for
Yourself0 (your time)Budgets under NPR 20,000 a month
FreelancerAbout 10,000–25,000 a monthOne or two campaigns, small businesses
Agency, flat fee15,000–60,000 a monthOngoing optimisation and reports
Agency, percentage10–20% of ad spend, with a monthly minimumLarger, growing budgets
One-time setupAround 20,000Account build, keyword research, tracking

Rule of thumb: your ad spend should be at least equal to the management fee, and ideally two to five times higher. Paying NPR 25,000 to manage NPR 10,000 of clicks rarely makes sense.

Before you sign, ask: Will the Google Ads account be in my name? Is conversion tracking included? Do I get read-only access? Is the landing page included or extra? If you need a landing page built, a freelance web developer in Nepal is often cheaper than an agency add-on.

Google Ads vs Facebook Ads Cost in Nepal

Facebook clicks are cheaper. Google clicks are worth more. Both statements are true, and which one wins depends on what you sell.

FactorGoogle Search AdsFacebook & Instagram Ads

A more expensive Google click often produces a cheaper customer because the person was already looking for you. If your business lives on a Facebook page and sells through chat, start there. My Facebook boost cost guide has a full rupee calculator.

10 Ways to Lower Your Google Ads Cost in Nepal

  1. Research keywords first. Use Google Keyword Planner (free with an Ads account) to check estimated bids. For deeper competitor data, compare tools in my best SEO tools roundup or the Ahrefs vs Semrush vs Ubersuggest comparison.
  2. Prefer long-tail keywords. “Python course in Putalisadak” is cheaper and converts better than “IT course.” My keyword research guide shows how to find them.
  3. Add negative keywords on day one. Block “free,” “job,” “salary,” “PDF” and “download” unless you sell those.
  4. Use phrase and exact match. Broad match on a small budget sends clicks to loosely related searches.
  5. Target only where you deliver. A Lalitpur clinic does not need clicks from Biratnagar.
  6. Schedule ads for business hours if you rely on phone calls.
  7. Test Nepali and Romanised Nepali keywords. Searches such as “ghar bhada Kathmandu” are often less contested than English ones; check volume in Keyword Planner.
  8. Improve Quality Score. Match ad text to the keyword and the landing page heading. Higher relevance means a lower price per click.
  9. Speed up your landing page. Many Nepali visitors browse on mobile data. A slow page wastes the click you already paid for.
  10. Track conversions. Without tracking you cannot tell which keywords make money, and automated bidding has nothing to learn from.

Mistakes That Make Google Ads Expensive in Nepal

  • Forgetting the VAT. Skipping the PAN step quietly adds 13% to every bill.
  • Planning a NPR 30,000 monthly budget on a USD 500 card. Ads stop when the card is empty, and the account loses its learning.
  • Accepting Google’s default settings. New Search campaigns can include the Display Network and broad match. Review both before launch.
  • Judging success by clicks. Cost per enquiry and cost per customer matter; clicks do not pay salaries.
  • Letting an agency own your account. If you part ways, you lose your history and data.
  • Ignoring festival seasons. Around Dashain, Tihar and admission intakes, more advertisers bid, so clicks can cost more. Plan budgets around your peak season.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Google Ads cost per click in Nepal?

Most search clicks in Nepal cost about NPR 10 to NPR 120. Local service keywords can be as low as NPR 5 to NPR 25, while education consultancy, real estate and insurance can reach NPR 80 to NPR 200 per click. Display clicks cost about NPR 2 to NPR 20.

What is the minimum budget for Google Ads in Nepal?

Google has no minimum spend. A practical test starts at NPR 500 a day (about NPR 15,000 a month), and around NPR 30,000 a month is recommended for Search to gather enough data to optimise.

Can I pay for Google Ads with a Nepali debit card?

Usually not. Regular rupee cards are not enabled for international payments. Use a prepaid dollar card from a Nepali bank, an IT prepaid card if your business qualifies, or a local agency that bills you in rupees.

Is there VAT on Google Ads in Nepal?

Yes. Since November 1, 2023, Google charges 13% VAT on digital services in Nepal unless you use them for business and provide your Nepal PAN with a business-use declaration.

How much Google Ads budget does a USD 500 dollar card give me?

At about NPR 152 per dollar, USD 500 is roughly NPR 76,000 a year, or about NPR 6,300 a month. That is enough for testing, but not for a steady NPR 30,000 monthly Search campaign.

How much do Google Ads agencies charge in Nepal?

Agencies typically charge NPR 15,000 to NPR 60,000 a month or 10% to 20% of ad spend, plus a one-time setup of around NPR 20,000. This fee is separate from the money you pay Google for clicks.

Is Google Ads cheaper than Facebook Ads in Nepal?

No, Facebook clicks are usually cheaper (about NPR 3 to NPR 25). But Google searchers are already looking for what you sell, so Google can still deliver a lower cost per customer for search-driven services.

Does Google charge a setup fee for Google Ads?

No. Creating a Google Ads account is free. You pay only for clicks, views or other results your campaigns receive. Setup fees only apply if you hire an agency or freelancer.

Final Verdict

Google Ads in Nepal is affordable per click, but the real cost is the full stack: ad spend, 13% VAT if you skip the PAN step, bank exchange margins, management and a landing page that converts. Start with a small, tightly targeted Search campaign of NPR 15,000 to NPR 30,000 a month, track every enquiry, and scale only the keywords that bring customers.

Sort out payment first. If your budget is bigger than a USD 500 card can carry, arrange a business or IT card, or agency billing, before you launch.
