Best Internet in Nepal 2026: WorldLink vs Vianet vs Classic Tech vs DishHome
By Wilson Shrestha, Kathmandu · Prices checked on the ISPs’ own websites on 8 October 2026 (Ashoj 2083) · All prices compared with 13% VAT included
Choosing the best internet in Nepal got harder this month. In the first week of October 2026, WorldLink and Vianet both raised their prices, and their 200 Mbps and 400 Mbps plans now cost exactly the same amount. Classic Tech and DishHome have not changed yet, which makes them noticeably cheaper for now. Most comparison pages online still show the old prices, and many mix VAT-inclusive and VAT-exclusive figures, so the cheapest-looking ISP is often not the cheapest one.
This guide compares the four biggest private ISPs on the things that actually decide your bill and your experience: the real yearly price with VAT, what a new connection costs on day one, Wi-Fi router, TV add-ons, fair usage policy, real-world speed test averages, and how many people already use each network.
Quick answer
- Best overall and widest network: WorldLink. Nepal’s largest ISP (11.2 lakh fiber users, 74 districts) with the highest average download speed among the ISPs measured in user speed tests. 200 Mbps WorldLink 6G costs Rs 16,830 a year with VAT.
- Best value right now: DishHome and Classic Tech. 200 Mbps costs about Rs 12,500 (DishHome) or Rs 12,868 (Classic Tech) a year with VAT, roughly Rs 4,000 less than WorldLink or Vianet.
- Vianet now matches WorldLink to the rupee at 200 and 400 Mbps, so pick between the two on signal quality and support in your area.
- Heads-up: after a Supreme Court ruling on telecom service charge (TSC), more ISPs may raise prices. Confirm the price before you pay for a year.
Key takeaways
- WorldLink raised its 6G (Wi-Fi 6) prices on about 6 October 2026: 200 Mbps went from Rs 13,000 to Rs 14,894 a year before VAT (about 15% more) and 400 Mbps from Rs 14,500 to Rs 16,248. 600 Mbps stayed at Rs 20,000.
- With VAT, WorldLink 6G and Vianet now both cost Rs 16,830 for 200 Mbps and Rs 18,360 for 400 Mbps a year, and Rs 4,800 / Rs 5,250 for 3 months.
- Classic Tech’s 350 Mbps plan (about Rs 14,550 a year with VAT) is the cheapest mid-tier plan of the four and the best value per Mbps below 600 Mbps.
- DishHome is the cheapest at 200 and 300 Mbps and adds TV for only about Rs 1,800 a year on renewal.
- At 600 Mbps, WorldLink 6G (Rs 22,600) is now the cheapest of the four, just under Vianet (Rs 22,950).
- New WorldLink 6G customers pay a Rs 3,000 one-time setup; Classic Tech installs free; DishHome charges Rs 1,000 for the drop wire.
WorldLink vs Vianet vs Classic Tech vs DishHome at a glance
All figures are internet-only, 12-month home plans. Prices from WorldLink and DishHome are listed before VAT on their websites, so we added 13%. Vianet already includes VAT. Classic Tech does not say, and its own price posts are before VAT, so we added 13% to be safe.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| 200 Mbps | Rs 16,830 (Rs 1,403/mo) | Rs 16,830 (Rs 1,403/mo) | ≈ Rs 12,868 (Rs 1,072/mo) | Rs 12,500 (Rs 1,042/mo) |

200 Mbps for one year: who is cheapest?
Yearly price with 13% VAT, internet only. Shorter bar = cheaper.
Why WorldLink and Vianet now cost the same (October 2026 price change)
On about 6 October 2026, both of Nepal’s two largest private ISPs changed their prices within days of each other:
- WorldLink 6G 200 Mbps rose from Rs 13,000 to Rs 14,894 a year before VAT, and 400 Mbps from Rs 14,500 to Rs 16,248. The 3-month 200 Mbps plan went from Rs 3,450 to Rs 4,248.
- Vianet replaced its Rs 13,800 250 Mbps plan with a 200 Mbps plan at Rs 16,830, and raised 400 Mbps from Rs 15,600 to Rs 18,360 (all VAT included).
Add 13% VAT to WorldLink’s new prices and they land exactly on Vianet’s: Rs 16,830 for 200 Mbps and Rs 18,360 for 400 Mbps a year. So at these two speeds, price no longer separates the two. Coverage, signal stability and repair speed in your street do.
Why prices are moving: the TSC ruling
In September 2026 the Supreme Court dismissed a writ filed by DishHome, Classic Tech, Vianet and Subisu against a tax assessment, letting the government recover Telecommunication Service Charge (TSC) that ISPs had not been charging customers. NepaliTelecom reported that home internet prices could rise by 50–100%, possibly only until past dues are cleared, and WorldLink’s CEO said the company had little choice but to start raising tariffs. As of 8 October 2026, Classic Tech and DishHome had not published new prices. If their current price suits you, check whether paying for a full year now locks in today’s rate.
What a new connection really costs in year one
Most comparisons stop at the package price. If you are new to an ISP, one-time charges change the ranking. Here is the year-one bill for a new 200 Mbps, 12-month, internet-only connection.
| ISP | Plan (VAT incl.) | One-time charges | Year-one total |
|---|---|---|---|
| WorldLink 6G | Rs 16,830 | Rs 3,000 (ONU rental Rs 1,000, refundable ONU deposit Rs 1,000, drop cable Rs 1,000) | ≈ Rs 19,830 |
| Vianet | Rs 16,830 | Not listed since early October; previously Rs 565 activation + Rs 1,000 refundable deposit | Rs 16,830 to ≈ Rs 18,395 |
| Classic Tech | ≈ Rs 12,868 | Free installation; about Rs 500 refundable router deposit | ≈ Rs 13,368 |
| DishHome | Rs 12,500 | Rs 1,000 drop wire (Rs 1,130 with VAT) | Rs 13,630 |
WorldLink lists its setup charges before VAT, so the final amount may be slightly higher. Refundable deposits come back when you return the device in working condition.
Best value: cost per Mbps
Divide the yearly price (with VAT) by 12 and then by the speed, and you see how much each megabit really costs you per month. Lower is better.
| Plan | Rs per Mbps per month |
|---|---|
| WorldLink 6G / Vianet 200 Mbps | Rs 7.01 |
| Classic Tech 200 Mbps | Rs 5.36 |
| DishHome 200 Mbps | Rs 5.21 |
| DishHome 300 Mbps | Rs 4.03 |
| WorldLink 6G / Vianet 400 Mbps | Rs 3.83 |
| Classic Tech 350 Mbps | Rs 3.46 |
| Vianet 600 Mbps | Rs 3.19 |
| WorldLink 6G 600 Mbps | Rs 3.14 |
The 200 Mbps plans from WorldLink and Vianet are now the worst value of the lot. If you are set on either of them, 400 Mbps costs only Rs 1,530 more a year (about Rs 128 a month) for double the speed.
Speed and reliability: what real users get
Plan speeds are what you pay for; real-world speed depends on your router, Wi-Fi and how busy the local network is. Speed test aggregator SpeedGeo published average results from user tests run between 1 April 2025 and 31 March 2026:
| ISP | Avg download | Avg upload | Avg ping |
|---|---|---|---|
| WorldLink | 73.7 Mbps | 39.6 Mbps | 56 ms |
| Vianet | 69.6 Mbps | 44.4 Mbps | 83 ms |
| DishHome | 57.6 Mbps | 51.9 Mbps | 54 ms |
| Classic Tech | Not listed in this dataset | ||
These averages are far below plan speeds because most tests run over Wi-Fi, on phones, and across every plan tier, including older slow plans. Use them to compare ISPs with each other, not to judge what your own connection will do. Two useful signals: WorldLink led on average download, and DishHome recorded the best upload and lowest ping of the three, which matters for video calls and gaming.
Who has the most customers?
Fiber internet users, NTA MIS report, Bhadra 2083
Nepal had 35.6 lakh fiber users in Bhadra 2083. WorldLink alone serves almost a third of them and added over 19,000 users in a single month. Vianet recently moved past Nepal Telecom into second place, Classic Tech is growing steadily (nearly 4,900 new users in a month), while DishHome’s base was roughly flat.
Each ISP in detail: strengths and weaknesses
WorldLink
Best for: reliability, coverage outside the Valley, large households.
- Largest network: 74 districts and 14,000+ free Wi-Fi Express hotspots for customers
- Highest average download in user tests
- Time Back credit for long outages and a slow-speed money-back guarantee
- Cheapest 600 Mbps plan of the four (Rs 22,600)
- But: 200 and 400 Mbps now cost the most; Rs 3,000 setup for new 6G users; FUP limits not published
Vianet
Best for: Wi-Fi 6 on every plan, ViaTV, multi-gig users.
- Wi-Fi 6 router on all three home plans
- Service Assurance adds free days if repairs take over 24 hours
- Only one of the four offering 2 Gbps (XGS-Extreme, by quote)
- Prices include VAT, so what you see is what you pay
- But: no longer cheaper than WorldLink; only 3- or 12-month billing; highest average ping in the SpeedGeo data
Classic Tech
Best for: best value mid-tier speed, budget plans from 50 Mbps.
- 350 Mbps for about Rs 14,550 a year with VAT, the cheapest 300+ Mbps plan here
- Free installation and free Wi-Fi 6 router on 200 and 350 Mbps
- Clearest published FUP: full speed up to 2,500 GB a cycle
- Cheapest entry plan of the four: 50 Mbps at Rs 596 a month before VAT
- But: no 500 Mbps+ home plan yet; only yearly prices shown online; prices may rise after the TSC ruling
DishHome
Best for: lowest 200–300 Mbps prices, internet + TV families.
- Cheapest 200 Mbps (Rs 12,500) and 300 Mbps (Rs 14,500) yearly plans
- Cheapest 1 Gbps home plan (Rs 39,999 with VAT), with mesh node and no FUP
- TV adds only about Rs 1,800 a year on renewal (DTH up to 4 TVs)
- Monthly billing available if you cannot pay for a year
- But: GamePro 600 Mbps is the dearest 600 Mbps plan; Wi-Fi 6 only on premium plans; customer base flat recently
Internet + TV: which bundle is cheapest?
| ISP | TV service | Cost of adding one TV |
|---|---|---|
| WorldLink | NETTV (IPTV) | Rs 2,654 + VAT a year per set-top box; 6G 200 Mbps + 1 NETTV is Rs 17,018 + VAT |
| Vianet | ViaTV (IPTV) | Rs 3,000 a year + Rs 500 box activation (VAT incl.) |
| Classic Tech | Caro TV (IPTV) | From Rs 499 a month; Family pack Rs 300 a month cheaper with 200 Mbps+ |
| DishHome | DTH dish or iTV | About Rs 1,800 + VAT a year on renewal |
For a family that wants internet and TV at the lowest price, DishHome is hard to beat. If you live in a flat where you cannot mount a dish, choose an IPTV option: DishHome iTV, NETTV or ViaTV.
Fair usage policy (FUP): is “unlimited” really unlimited?
- Classic Tech is the most transparent: full speed up to 2,500 GB in a billing cycle, then a gradual slowdown (on its 300 Mbps example, to 220, 200 and 180 Mbps).
- Vianet slows heavy users in three levels (60%, 30%, then 5 Mbps) but does not publish the GB thresholds. Counters reset on the 1st of each English month.
- WorldLink applies FUP to unlimited plans and first throttles excessive users at peak hours, without publishing limits.
- DishHome says its 600 Mbps and 1 Gbps plans have no FUP; standard plan cards do not mention it.
For a normal family, none of these limits will matter. They matter if you download huge game libraries, seed torrents or upload video every day.
Which ISP is best for you?
| If you are… | Our pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| On a tight budget | DishHome 200 Mbps or Classic Tech 125–200 Mbps | Lowest yearly bills; monthly billing at DishHome |
| A family of 4–6 with smart TV | Classic Tech 350 Mbps or DishHome 300 Mbps + TV | Fast enough for several 4K streams at about Rs 1,210 a month |
| Working from home | WorldLink 6G 400 Mbps | Biggest network, Time Back and service guarantee if it fails |
| A gamer or creator | WorldLink 6G 600 Mbps or DishHome GamePro | Cheapest 600 Mbps (WorldLink) or no FUP plus mesh (DishHome) |
| Outside Kathmandu Valley | WorldLink, then Classic Tech | Both report service in all 74 districts |
| In a big multi-floor house | Any Wi-Fi 6 plan + a mesh unit | A mesh node fixes dead rooms; a faster plan does not |
How to choose the best ISP in your own area
National rankings matter less than the network on your street. Before you pay for a year:
- Ask two or three neighbours which ISP they use, how often it goes down, and how fast repairs happen. In Kathmandu this varies tole by tole.
- Confirm fiber can reach your door before paying. All four do a site check.
- Compare the VAT-inclusive total, including setup charges, not the headline monthly figure.
- Pay yearly if you can. Yearly plans are about 12–38% cheaper than paying every 1 or 3 months, depending on the ISP.
- Check for a Dashain or Tihar 2083 offer. None of the four had published one on 8 October 2026, but past festival offers added free months.
- Plan your Wi-Fi coverage. If the router sits on the ground floor of a three-storey house, budget for a mesh unit (WorldLink Nokia Beacon, Vianet Rs 3,500 mesh).
Already on WorldLink? You can check your WorldLink data usage online to see whether you are near FUP limits, and change your WorldLink Wi-Fi password after installation. Also comparing Subisu? See our Subisu package price list.

Frequently asked questions
Which is the best internet in Nepal in 2026?
WorldLink is the best all-rounder because of its network size (74 districts, 11.2 lakh fiber users) and the highest average download in user speed tests. For value, DishHome and Classic Tech are about Rs 4,000 a year cheaper at 200 Mbps.
Which ISP is the cheapest in Nepal?
Among the big four, DishHome has the cheapest 200 Mbps yearly plan at Rs 12,500 with VAT, and Classic Tech has the cheapest entry plan (50 Mbps at Rs 596 a month before VAT, billed yearly).
Did WorldLink and Vianet increase their prices in October 2026?
Yes. Around 6 October 2026, WorldLink 6G 200 Mbps rose to Rs 14,894 a year before VAT and Vianet’s entry plan became 200 Mbps at Rs 16,830 with VAT. With VAT both now cost Rs 16,830 for 200 Mbps and Rs 18,360 for 400 Mbps a year.
Will Classic Tech and DishHome prices go up too?
Possibly. Both were among the ISPs whose writ the Supreme Court dismissed in September 2026, and reports suggest home internet prices could rise. Neither had announced new rates as of 8 October 2026.
Which ISP is best for gaming in Nepal?
For high speed at a fair price, WorldLink 6G 600 Mbps (Rs 22,600 a year with VAT). DishHome GamePro 600 Mbps costs more but has no FUP and includes a mesh node. Ping depends heavily on your area, so ask local gamers which network performs best near you.
Do internet prices in Nepal include VAT?
It depends on the ISP. Vianet shows prices with 13% VAT. WorldLink and DishHome show prices before VAT. Classic Tech does not state it on its plan page, so budget about 13% extra.
Which ISP has the most customers in Nepal?
WorldLink, with 1,121,849 fiber users in the NTA report for Bhadra 2083. Vianet (380,937), Nepal Telecom (375,140), DishHome (374,628) and Classic Tech (300,003) follow.
Is WorldLink better than Vianet?
They now cost the same at 200 and 400 Mbps. WorldLink has a much larger network and a slightly cheaper 600 Mbps plan; Vianet gives Wi-Fi 6 on every plan and includes VAT in its listed prices. The better choice is whichever has the more stable service on your street.
