Everything confirmed so far about GTA 6, what it means for your PS5 purchase, and a checklist so you're ready the moment it unlocks on Thursday, 19 November 2026.
Counting to midnight, 19 Nov, in your device's time zone. Rockstar hasn't published official unlock times, and reports built from store data disagree. One Indian outlet estimates about 5:30 AM IST on 19 Nov for India-region accounts (about 5:45 AM in Nepal). Treat that as an estimate.
Confirmed Rockstar, Take-Two or Sony said it. Reported seen in footage or previews, not formally stated. Rumor leaks and estimates; treat with caution.
Release information & platforms
The date has held since the November 2025 delay, and Take-Two has repeated it in every update since.
Launch date
Confirmed Thursday. Take-Two's CEO reaffirmed it in May and again in a July shareholder letter.
Platforms at launch
Confirmed Includes PS5 Pro. No PS4 or Xbox One version.
PC version
Reported Not on Rockstar's platform list. Most outlets expect 2027 or later, as with GTA V and RDR2.
Pre-load
Confirmed Digital pre-orders can download a week early so you can play at launch.

Not announced Review embargo. Rockstar hasn't set a date. Insiders claim Rockstar may skip normal review codes in favour of controlled on-site sessions; that is unconfirmed. Expect scores close to launch day, so a "wait for reviews" plan may only buy you hours.
Buying from Nepal: read this first
This is the part most guides skip, and it decides which account and which copy you buy.
No Nepal PlayStation Store
Reported Nepal is on the list of countries where PlayStation Network isn't offered. You'll need an account registered to a supported country.
GTA 6 codes are region-locked
Reported Boxed copies contain a code that only works on an account from the matching region. The redeemable-country list includes India but not Nepal.
India-region pricing
Reported Standard. Ultimate is ₹7,499. India is the closest supported region for most Nepali players.
PS5 in India
Reported Standard disc model after the 2026 hike, from new retail MRP stickers. Digital and Pro India prices weren't confirmed in my sources.
The safe order of operations
- Create (or check) a PlayStation account set to one supported country, such as India. Account country can't easily be changed later.
- Buy gift cards or a GTA 6 code from that same country. A UK code won't redeem on an India account, and vice versa.
- If you buy a boxed copy from a local shop, check the box's region matches your account before paying.
- Ask any local console seller which region and warranty the console carries. Imported units may have no local warranty.

Buying a PS5 for GTA 6
Sony raised prices worldwide on 2 April 2026. These are the official US recommended prices; your local price will differ.

What actually matters
- Reported Expect 30 fps on every console. Co-director Rob Nelson told a visiting YouTuber the consoles run the game at 30 fps "for now," and that a 60 fps option, at launch or later, is still undecided. This came secondhand through a translated video, so it isn't a formal Rockstar statement. Plan around 30.
- Not announced No official PS5 bundle. Sony hasn't announced a GTA 6 console bundle. The only bundles found so far are Amazon-made Xbox packs in Europe.
- Reported Plan for 150–200 GB free. Rockstar hasn't published a file size, but estimates cluster there. Installs also need extra working space while unpacking.
- Storage upgrade: a 2 TB M.2 NVMe SSD with a heatsink is the practical add-on for a base PS5 if you keep other big games installed.
- Confirmed Physical copies are code-in-box. There's no game data on a disc, so a disc PS5 gains you nothing for GTA 6 specifically, and you'll need a solid internet connection either way.

Reported Any edition pre-ordered on the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store includes one free month of GTA+. It applies to GTA Online on GTA V, and it auto-renews at full price unless you cancel. No Collector's Edition or SteelBook exists. Digital pre-orders can't be refunded once the game is downloaded or pre-loaded.
Age rating
Adults only in most regions. Parents should treat this as an 18+ game.

Reported Ratings as compiled on 6 Oct 2026. Ratings also carry an "In-Game Purchases" label, though Rockstar hasn't announced microtransactions for GTA 6 itself.
Story & characters
A criminal couple on the run in a Florida-style state. Rockstar describes it as the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series.
Fresh out of prison and the first female protagonist of the 3D-era GTA games. Her ankle monitor is central to how the partnership with Jason starts.
Ex-Army, raised around grifters, working for drug runners in the Keys before he meets Lucia.
Jason's friend and conspiracy-minded hanger-on.
Vice City local legend with a strip club, studio and real-estate empire.

Names are confirmed by Rockstar's character reveal. The one-line roles summarise Rockstar's May 2025 character profiles. The premise: the pair are pulled into a statewide conspiracy after a job goes wrong.
How missions work
- Reported Campaign runs about 80 hours for Rockstar's own playthrough, in a chapter structure like RDR2.
- Reported Choices matter: small decisions can snowball; big ones change events soon after. Rockstar expects people to replay.
- Reported Switch freely between Jason and Lucia in the open world. Hand the wheel to your partner and shoot while they drive.
- Reported Optional romance: keep it platonic or build the relationship through dates, workouts, shopping and jobs. Ignoring each other's texts hurts the bond.
- Reported Money gates the story: you may need to raise cash before some chapters, through robberies, car theft and heists.
Map, locations & setting
The state of Leonida, Rockstar's take on Florida, with Vice City as its centre. No official size has been given.
- Reported Preview estimates: roughly 2× GTA V's map and about 3× RDR2's landmass, with far more populated space.
- Reported The pause map is now a detailed satellite-style 3D map.
- Reported Side activities include pool, mini golf, kayaking, diving, parachuting, gym workouts and a zoo, plus a wildlife checklist.

Criminal Profile replaces Honor
Reported Instead of good/evil, your behaviour builds a profile that changes how people react and can shape parts of the story. Pointless violence counts against you; violence the mission requires doesn't. Clean, efficient jobs build your reputation.

Car theft is now a skill system, not one button press. Fan databases track close to 300 vehicles spotted so far, all fictional versions of real cars.
Stealing cars

- The WAINK phone app scans a car: value, locks, alarm, tracker
- Slim jim for older cars, key-cloning tools for modern ones; some tools unlock with story progress
- Classic carjacking still works if someone's driving

- Fences can tip you off to valuable cars, even in impound lots

- Confirmed Car mod shops exist: Rideout Customs (Vice City) and One-Eyed Willie's (Lake Leonida) come with Ultimate; standard shops for everyone haven't been detailed.

What to expect & will progress carry over?
- GTA Online character, money, cars: no transfer has been announced, and Rockstar has never moved progress between two different games. Assume a fresh start.
- GTA V story saves: no link. New state, new protagonists.
- GTA Online keeps running: Take-Two has said it expects to keep supporting it after GTA 6 launches, so your existing progress stays where it is.
- GTA 6 at launch is single player. Rockstar's pricing announcement describes a single-player experience; an online mode hasn't been dated.
- Realistic expectation: a dense, slower-paced, systems-heavy game closer to RDR2 than GTA V, played at 30 fps.

Rockstar hasn't published these yet, so the guide doesn't guess: official file size, supported languages and subtitles, accessibility options, DualSense haptics and trigger features, resolution and ray tracing, PS5 Pro enhancements, official unlock times, review embargo, GTA 6 Online date, and PC date.
After launch
GTA 6 Online
Rumor Widely expected after launch, as GTA Online followed GTA V by two weeks in 2013. No official date.
PC release
Rumor Most estimates point to 2027 or later.
Ultimate upgrade
Confirmed You can upgrade from Standard to Ultimate after launch.
Performance patches
Rumor A higher frame-rate mode later is possible but unannounced. Don't buy hardware on that hope.
