I am going to explain something about the Dashain festival in Nepal. It is the biggest festival in Nepal which is also known as “Bada Dashain”. As a Nepali, we will get 6 days of public holidays in Nepal.
According to mythology, Goddess Durga was created by the combined energies of gods, including Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, and others, to kill the demon Mahishasura. Durga is a warrior goddess with multiple arms, each holding different weapons. She rides in a lion, which is a symbol of strength, courage, and power.
Before the beginning of Dashain, we celebrate Navaratri which is remembered as the victory of Durga over Mahishasura. It is a nine-night festival, and each night is dedicated to one of Durga’s different forms. For your kind information, Durga has nine forms so it is also know as Nawa durga.
